Economically and culturally Hamburg is the center of Northern Germany. The city area of 755 km2 is seven times larger than Paris or 2,5 times larger than London. Hamburg is also the greenest of the large metropolitan cities: 14% of the area is parks and recreational areas. Hamburg has 2302 bridges which is more than Venice and Amsterdam have together. The city has over 90 consulates, the second most after New York.
In the center of the city there is lake Alster. During the summer season lake Alster offers a possibility to relaxing by sailing, pedal boating, or guided Alster tour.
Hamburg is the city of musicals. All of the world famous musicals are shown in the theatres.
