Tallink Hotels expands to Latvia

The leading shipping company on Baltic Sea, AS Tallink Grupp expands its hotel chain Tallink Hotels to Latvia by opening a four star level hotel in Riga on 15th of April. The launch of the new Tallink Hotel Riga created 100 new jobs in Latvia.

The Chairman of the Management Board of Tallink Hotels, Mr. Üllar Tali said, that even though it is ambitious to open a hotel in Latvia during those turbulent times, the company sees strong potential in synergy with Tallink`s Stockholm-Riga shipping route as well as in the strong and quite well known brand Tallink. „We aim for the success with the experience from Estonian market as well as with being thorough in what we do by offering service of highest quality possible,“ added Tali.

Tallink Hotel Riga is situated in Riga centre, near the railway station, Elizabetes Street 24. There are 256 modern rooms in the hotel; 21 single rooms, 227 standard double rooms, 5 De Lux class rooms and 3 suites. The hotel has a high quality restaurant Elements and café Balanss, a conference centre for 200 persons, a beauty salon, a sauna and a gym. The restaurant and conference centre can be connected to enable smooth organizing of different events.

The building of seven floors will have a parking lot in the basement for 28 vehicles.

Tallink Hotel Riga`s director will be Mr. Hannes Tall, who has been also the director of Tallink City Hotel in Tallinn, Estonia.
The investment of over 30 million Euros for building the hotel was made by the largest shareholder of Tallink, AS Infortar. The project was financed by DnB NORD Banka. The construction works were done by SIA Merks.

The Head of Corporate department of DnB NORD Banka Raimo Smukais says: “DnB NORD Banka is gratified by the possibility to finance one of the biggest objects in tourism industry in Latvia in the recent years – the construction of Tallink Hotel in Riga. We are sure that the new Tallink Hotel using the synergy with ferry route will help the city of Latvia to attract tourists and contribute to renewal of Latvian economy through increasing flow of tourists”.

Tallink Hotels is operated by OÜ TLG Hotell, which is a subsidiary of the shipping company AS Tallink Grupp also operating the shipping route Riga-Stockholm. Tallink Hotels is the largest hotel chain in Estonia by the number of rooms (1020), operating 4 hotels in Tallinn. 340 000 bed-nights were serviced in Tallink Hotels last year.
