SILJA OY AB’S PASSENGER SECURITY REGULATIONS FROM 1.7.2004In order to ensure the comfort and the safety of all persons onboard the passengers are to follow these security regulations and instructions on safety given either by the personnel the ship or by signs placed on board. The operational crew represents the master of the ship in matters concerning maintenance of good order and safety onboard. A passenger is not allowed to disturb or to threaten his co-passengers or otherwise misbehave during the voyage. A person, who cannot take care of himself or who behaves disturbingly or improperly, may be taken into custody for the rest of the voyage.
1. The passenger must be able to show a valid boarding pass with EAN code and on request prove his identity.
2. Anyone on board a vessel or in harbour premises may be subjected to a bodily search or an interview for the matters of safety. It is not obligatory to agree on the bodily search or the interview, but those not agreeing may be dismissed from the vessel or the harbour premises. Any luggage, vehicle, cabin or other closed storage may be searched.
The passenger must have the necessary, valid travel documents in his possession. If the shipping company is liable or otherwise affected by expenses due to lacking travel documents of a passenger, the passenger is liable for covering these expenses.
3. A passenger may not board the ship, if he behaves threateningly, disturbingly or annoyingly to other passengers, does not fulfill the stipulated requirements, is indecently dressed or for any other valid reason.
4. Only alcohol bought in the ship’s restaurants may be consumed onboard. The possession and use of drugs is prohibited. In the ship’s restaurants one is not allowed to have self brought food or beverage except special diet or baby food or beverage. Pets are welcomed onboard provided that they are kept in the cabin and are walked outdoors on the deck.
5. The passengers are not allowed to bring hazardous objects or material onboard. Using open fire (real candles, gas cookers etc.) onboard is prohibited. Firearms or other weapons shall be declared at the terminal check-in and onboard they are to be rendered for storage in a safety locker at the info desk.
6. The passenger may stay only in those areas meant for passengers during the voyage. Visiting the car deck, mending of vehicles and handling of fuel are prohibited during the voyage.
7. The passenger is responsible for the comfort of his co-passengers onboard. In the cabin area listening to audio equipment without headphones is not allowed and silence starts at eleven pm (23:00 hours local time). The leader of an adolescent group is responsible for the compliance of the adolescent group with these regulations. In problematic situations the group leader is to co-operate with the personnel of the ship and follow the instructions given.
8. Cabin contents (pillows, bedclothes, chairs and other possessions of the shipping company) may not be damaged or taken out from the cabin. Theft, burglary, fraud, unlawful threatening, damage to property or other illegal activity is always reported to the police. Damaging the safety equipment of the ship is strictly prohibited. Malicious alarm and manipulation of the emergency and alarm equipment are always reported to the police.
9. The passenger is not entitled to conduct business or other sales activity onboard, to organize funds, run lottery or propaganda activity, agitate or give political speeches, unless the activity has been agreed upon with the shipping company in advance.

According to Chapter 15 Section 4 of Finnish Maritime Code, Chapter 15 Section 7 of the Swedish Maritime Code as well as regulation EC/725/2004 adopted in order to bring the ISPS Code into force and under all national decrees stipulated thereupon, each passenger ( i.e. person aboard not belonging to the vessel’s crew) is obliged to obey the above mentioned security regulations both on board and in the terminals.
