Safety on board

General information
It is our primary duty to garantee the safety of our passengers, their possessions and our environment. The safety standards of our ships as well as the know-how of our personnel in safety matters is of high quality.

Our personnel
The personnel  will be trained on the basicks of the safety before they start their work. Besides weekly safety practises will be organised.  Several members of the personnel have special knowledge in fire protection and handling the life boats.

Ships
The Maritime Authorities will check and accept the safety organisations of our ships regularly.

Emergency situations
Our personnel practises regularly how to rescue passengers from their cabins and other rooms. In an emergency situation a signal that can be heard everywhere in the ship, will be used. The signal consists of 7 short and 1 long signals, which means that everyone must go to his evacuation place. You will find your evacuation place in your ticket and in your cabin. More information will be given through radio. The personnel will give more instructions at your evacuation place.

Life boats, life boards and life jackets

There are more places in the life boats than there are passengers on the ship. Similarly, the amount of life jackets is bigger than the maximum amount of passengers on the ship.

Sprinklers
All rooms in our ships are equipped with a sprinkler.

Smoke and heat alarms
All room sin our ships are equipped with smoke and heat alarms, that will warn the personnel if there is smoke or the temperature is rising.

Information
You will find safety information in the brochures that can be found in the terminal as well as in TV monitors in terminals and in their tickets. On board you will find safety information in your cabin, safety boards and TV monitors. When the ship is leaving the harbour you will hear safety information everywhere on the ship as well. Every passenger is responsible for acquaint himself with the safety instructions and check the location of his evacuation place. Our personnel will be happy to ask your questions about safety matters.

Ushers
Ushers will patrol on the ship 24 hours per day. 

Rough sea and waves
If the sea is very rough the ship may have to sail slowlier and thus the ship may arrive late. For our captains the safety is in first place.
