The most famous bourgeois house is House Buddenbrook that was in possession of family Mann. Thomas Mann described in his books the citizens so sharply that it took decades before they forgave him.
Surrounded by Trave and Wakenitz rivers the old town ïs visitor friendly. The distances are short and there is plenty of wonderful things to see.
The cityscape is dominated by brick gothics and old pediment houses. restaurants of all styles are to be found and shopping possibilities on Breite Strasse are splendid.
