Shopping

Stockholm's department stores and shopping arcades stay open seven days a week. The longest shopping zones reach from Hötorget to Gamla Stan via Drottnigatan, and from Hamngatan, Kungsgatan and Biblioteksgatan to Stureplan.

NK, Nordiska Kompaniet

This superb department store made the headlines in the autumn of 2003 for unsettling reasons. The Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh and her friends were exactly the kind of elegant ladies for whom NK offers the creations by international and Swedish designers alike.

Also on sale is a comprehensive selection of books on interior decoration, cooking and gardening. Prices are moderate, with the exception of the work of a few top designers. The staff even wrap inexpensive souvenirs in DesignTorget's own wrapping paper.
